Two of the temptations Jesus faces in the wilderness start with, “If you are the Son of God, do this thing I think you should do.” Which is really fascinating, right, because God LITERALLY JUST SAID “You are my beloved son.” The temptation is “If you’re REALLY God’s beloved, you have to do this and this and this.” God didn’t say that. The devil said that.
