The Dark Night of the Soul is language we borrowed for what happens when we wrestle with God. Where what we were told about God, about faith, about life, by our church, just isn’t working anymore, isn’t connecting with our hearts anymore. Where we shuffle off alone into the darkness to take on a figure in the dark. A figure – we’re not sure if it’s God or the devil or maybe just the embodiment of our own fears. We didn’t ask for it, but it can leave us with a blessing… and a spiritual limp.
